The New Farm Deli & Cafe was the first Deli-Café in Queensland. In 1996 the Deli was the chosen winner from amongst more than 2000 cafes entries from all over Australia and was bestowed with the inaugural CSR “Australian Café of the year” award. We have a long 25 year history having commenced as a delicatessen in 1977 in Merthyr Road, New Farm. The delicatessen was cultivated with lots of hard work and slowly tempted and converted many of the local Australians to develop an acceptance of the traditional Italian cuisine. 
It was in 1991 that we moved to our current location on Brunswick Street in the Merthyr Centre. This move provided the opportunity for expansion and allowed us to increase the number of continental delicatessen lines offered to our loyal customers. The move to Brunswick Street was also a pivotal point for our business as the extra floor space led to the emergence of the Café side. 
The philosophy was simple…customers were able to buy their deli products and complete the experience with a cup of coffee or focaccia stuffed with gourmet delights that could also be purchased from our deli. Over the years, the New Farm Deli & Café has evolved to become an icon of the Brisbane food scene. The essence of the Deli is its ability to maintain tradition without losing sight of the evolution that is required to keep both regular and new customers satisfied. This is apparent with the introduction of gluten free, organic and low fat products to complement regular selling lines. 
We believe that to listen, learn and walk ‘hand in hand’ with our customers is the key that ensures we continue to provide and satisfy you for many years to come. Today we’re affectionately known as The Deli by our regulars and newcomers. Whether it’s to purchase deli products, sit down for breakfast, lunch or afternoon dessert with a coffee, one fact is for certain - the experience is always memorable and will have you back for more.
